HUSBANDS AND WIVES – How To Manage Your Expectations

I love my wife and miss her, now that she is no longer with me, but I am writing this to facilitate further discussion of this touchy subject, and hopefully contribute to minimizing domestic violence and abuse. Let all families read and meditate on Ephesians 5 verses 28 and 29, husbands and wives as well as those contemplating marriage. My children have always counselled me to not allow the rebuke or criticism to get under my skin. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. – NEKO BABUL.

HUSBANDS AND WIVES – How To Manage Your Expectations

How to manage your expectations?

Many times I remind myself that I must practice what I preach.

The Bible in Proverbs 13 verse 12 says, quote ‘ Expectations postponed makes the heart sick, But a desire realised is a tree of life ‘.

We may have high expectations of ourselves, and when the expectations are not realised, we may become suicidal or abuse illicit drugs and alcohol.

Many husbands will become violent and abuse to wives and children when they are rebuked or criticized in public, or front of children and family members. The husbands expect wives to show some respect for them as husbands and heads of their houses.

I get upset and bleed all day because my wife rebuked or criticized me in full view of the children. And therefore I feel that she had undermined my standing in the eyes of my children. I expected her to speak and reason with me in private.

My expectation that she should show some respect for me, made me bleed all day. Either that or speak and use words that can get the message across without hurting my ego, as husband and father of the children.

I look forward to your views.
