Acting Prime Minister John Rosso who is also the Immigration Minister has clarified the deportation of various foreigners on the grounds of Visa abuse.

He provided this commentary today after a foreigner posted a video on social media few days ago accusing Rosso on coming down hard on foreigners.

Rosso said in Lae Roundtable WhatsApp Group:

“I have deported 180 foreign national for abuse of Visa. And up to July, in a space of 12 months, just 2 weeks ago, another 101 foreign nationals were deported for similar Visa abuse in my capacity as Immigration Minister.

Acting PM Rosso further urged foreigners to observe the laws in place. And not to abuse it.

“We welcome foreigners but I ask all to follow the law. All I ask is to follow the law.

“Ples blo yu mipla go, mipla bai bihainim law blo ples blo u. Yu mas mekim wankain taim yu kam long ples blo mipla.”

Acting PM Rosso was also surprised to see many PNGeans asking him to slow down on his hard line policy.

“It’s surprising to see the number of Papua New Guinea citizens asking me to slow down my hard line policy.

“Look at the number of Papua New Guineans supporting this na tok sorry long em. Behain same ol line bai tok why gavman ino wokim wok long protection blo country na ol liklik business.”
