DAMARU INDICATES MORE ARRESTS EXPECTED

Director of the National Fraud and Anti- Corruption Directorate said more arrests are expected soon in relation to the K50 million which was released to the LR Group for the purchase of the two Generators from Israel.

Detective Chief Superintendent Mathew Damaru said this following the arrests of former Prime Minister and current member for Ialibu Pangia Peter O’Neill.

The K50 million which was released to the LR Group for the purchase of the Generators was during the time of Mr. ONeill as Prime Minister.

Current Prime Minister James Marape was the Finance minister at that time, in 2013.

Mr. Damaru has indicated in his statement over the weekend that no proper procurement process was followed as per the Independent Public Business Corporation Act 2002 and Public Finance Management Act 1995.

The matter was then reported to the Police National Fraud & Anti-Corruption Directorate for investigation by the then Opposition Leader- Belden Namah which was followed by the police investigation, resulting in the subsequent arrest of Mr. ONeill.

Detective Chief Superintendent Damaru said more arrests are expected in this matter soon.
