K340M EU Grant For East and West Sepik Finally Launched

PNG Anti-Corruption Movement for Change | 08/20/19. It was a stirring visual looking from over the shoulder of the Governor of East Sepik , Hon Allan Bird on the Boram Airport tar mack today. His dream and vision for Sepik was today being realized. The towering figure stood poised, gazing in deep thought at the procession of the guard of honour for Prime Minister James Marape soon after the Falcon Jet landed. Governor Bird has been a major protagonist for the “Agriculture Potential” of the East Sepik Basin and the greater Sepik region, not to mention Papua New Guinea as a whole. Today K340 Million EU grant for East and West Sepik, which he had worked on tirelessly was finally Launched. “Instead of loans, it was Allan Bird who opened up our eyes to the grants available to us…” Prime Minister recalled, as the former Finance Minister listening to Bird. Today the East and West Sepik get an injection of desperately needed seed capital that will facilitate for the Agriculture Industries of Cocoa, Vanilla, rice, spice etc in the Sepik region to increase Agriculture % in the regional and national GDP in 5-10 years. 1. HEART OF DEVELOPMENT & NATIONS BLOOD LINE
Thankyou Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea. Hon. James’ Marape for your ambitious strategies, representing the people of Papua New Guinea. Thankyou Hon. Governor, Allan bird for such a revolutionary dream and proactive initiative. Your recognition to your people (2 Sepik provinces) is honoured by “God Almighty” to provide a decent standard of development for all. As the old saying goes, “Agriculture succeeds a nation succeeds” because it’s the core of human civilization to modernization and it’s the ONLY nation’s blood line.
For decades, the coverage of access to and quality of information implemented in boosting the potential of agriculture sector in 2 Sepik provinces and also throughout Papua New Guinea has been dormant, untapped and uneven towards the development in Papua New Guinea.
It’s time now, let’s go beyond the drawing board by facing the reality and define the true meaning of food security to bring food to the people of Papua New Guinea through identifying crops that have the potential to mitigate food security issues in the country’ thus making Sepik provinces and PNG as whole, a food bowl for organic produce and bread basket for the Asia pacific regions.
It’s time now to bring about desirable changes in the economy of the province and the country through tangible investment. Investment that can regenerate the revenue instead of capital firing and depending on recycle revenue and consumption alone. An investment that will boost and diversify the economy base (stabilizing GNP & GDP). An investment that can certainly be harnessed through commercial farming thus encouraging AGRICULTURE & MANUFACTURING within PNG soil, for reducing import, and promote sustainable food security, generate substantial employment in rural populace, raising incomes and improving income distribution in the country (encourage more into investment than consumption).
An investment that, Papua New Guinean’s can have nationally own reserve banks rather than entirely depending upon commercial foreign banks. An investment that will shape the destiny of Sepik people and impact the development landscape of PNG; hence equally provide a decent standard of living for all including providing nutritional value of human dietary needs.

Key words: Agriculture succeeds, a nation succeeds.
