Our Politicians must undergo proper induction to fully understand their roles and responsibilities while in office. Their duties should be clearly defined, including a well structured job description that guides their performance.

Importantly, members of parliament should be based in their respective districts to effectively fulfill their mandated responsibilities.

Too often, many politicians remain in Port Moresby, disconnected from the daily realities of their people. This lack of regular consultation prevents them from gaining an accurate understanding of the challenges and needs in their electorates.

We must shift away from the flawed system that has emerged, where politicians are reduced to acting as project managers and finance manahers.

For the next 50 years, PNG needs leaders who focus on legislation, representation, and national development, not simply overseeing projects and finances, we have the District Development Authority and Provincial Administration for that!what are the roles and responsibilities of a member of national parliament in papua new guinea.
