PM James Marape Takes a Taxi! PNG’s Prime Minister shocks nation with humble ride home.

BIG NEWS: Prime Minister Marape Took a Taxi Home! – PNG People Shocked, Taxi Driver Still Smiling

PORT MORESBY – Something surprising happened over the weekend! Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister, Hon. James Marape, didn’t go home in a government car. Instead, he jumped into a normal yellow taxi—like one of us ordinary people!

People couldn’t believe their eyes. “Em PM ya? Em stap long taxi?” Yes, it’s true!

How It All Happened

PM Marape went to church as usual. After the service, he came outside and saw that his government car and driver were missing, no car, no convoy, no blue lights.

Did he panic? Did he call for a new car?

Nope. He just looked around, saw a taxi coming, waved it down, and got in. Just like that. No drama. No bodyguards shouting. Just a simple ride home.

Inside the Taxi: Real Talk with the Driver

The best part? The PM didn’t stay quiet or act bossy. He started chatting with the taxi driver like a normal wantok.

The driver shared about his life:

  • Fuel is expensive.
  • There are too many taxis fighting for customers.
  • He works hard every day just to feed his family.
  • Life in PNG is getting harder.

PM Marape listened carefully. He didn’t argue or make promises. He just nodded and said, “Mi save, em tru.”

Social Media Go Wild

As soon as the video came out, PNG Facebook and TikTok blew up:

  • “Mi laik vote again now!”
  • “Displa PM em stap real, em no putim style.”
  • “Hope ol narapela MPs kisim PMV tu now!”

Some people joked that the taxi should be painted gold and placed in front of Parliament!

What Can We Learn From This?

This story teaches us something important:

  • A real leader doesn’t always need big cars or bodyguards.
  • A good leader listens to the people.
  • Sometimes the best way to understand the country is to sit in a taxi and talk to a driver.

PM Marape didn’t just take a ride. He showed he is willing to be close to the people and hear their real struggles.

The PM Who Took a Taxi and Won Hearts

PM Marape’s taxi ride is now a story that many Papua New Guineans will never forget. It was simple, humble, and powerful.

So next time you see a taxi on the road, look closely. You might see the Prime Minister having another friendly chat with a driver.

  1. I believe the action PM made was to come down to the ordinary PNG people and feel, hear or see the struggle.. because up there he doesn’t know how life is for ordinary citizens though he knew but for him really feel this pain he should expose himself out with the people, he took this step to personal get information. this is very good for him to come out like this, rather than hiding behind luxury where he won’t know people’s pain and struggle.. thank you.

    1. Thank you for sharing your perspective. It’s insightful to hear your thoughts on the Prime Minister’s actions and the potential impact of connecting with ordinary citizens.
