The National Airports Corporation today signed a 14 million Kina contract with Korean Engineering Consultants Corporation for consultancy services to be provided to NAC.
The agreement was signed yesterday by both parties at Government House in the presence of Acting Governor-General Job Pomat.
Papua New Guinea through NAC has received a loan from ADB towards the cost of implementing the Civil Aviation Development Program or CADIP in improving PNG’s 22 National Airports to meet Certification and Operational Requirements in compliance with PNG Civil Aviation Rules and ICAO Standards & Recommended Practices and also to improve the level of service and passenger comfort.
Many airports across the country have been improved as a result.
As such, invitations for Expressions of Interest were issued publicly through Asian Development Bank’s website calling for a suitably qualified airport infrastructure development firm in accordance with ADB’s stringent procurement guidelines and procedures an internationally recognized firm was selected to assist the CADIP with the supervision of the remaining ten airport projects.
Following the selection of the successful consultant, a submission was made to the National Executive Council by the former Minister for Civil Aviation, Lekwa Gure for approval to award.
NEC deliberated on this and have since approved the award of the Contract to KECC Keunjeong JV in Association with Kramer Ausenco of Korea for Construction Supervision Consultancy Services under the CADIP program for almost 15 million Kina.
As Government House’s first order of business for 2020, the Consultancy Agreement was signed between the acting managing Director of NAC Ephraim Wasem and the Vice President of the KEEC Seungwoo Phi and the General Manager for the Airport Department of KEEC HeongChang Lee.
Government House officials read out the NEC approval for the contract, followed by a clearance from the Auditor General’s office, giving the state’s approval for the agreement to be signed.
Acting Governor-General Job Pomat witnessed and confirmed the contract signing.
The consultancy firm will now be working closely with NAC to complete other airport projects in the country
