Pais Wisil to Represent PNG at World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China.
Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – Athletics PNG INC. is proud to announce that sprinter Pais Wisil has been selected to represent Papua New Guinea at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, PR China, from March 21 to 23.
Wisil’s selection comes after a series of impressive performances this season in both the 60m and 100m events. Last Saturday in Canberra, Wisil blazed through the 100m in a remarkable 10.32 seconds. While this time, the fastest ever recorded by a Papua New Guinean, won’t be recognized as a national record due to a slight tailwind (+2.4m/s), it underscores Wisil’s incredible potential and progress.
Wisil has been training diligently on the Gold Coast under the guidance of coach Tony Fairweather, with support from Athletics PNG and Oceania Athletics. His steady improvement over the past few years in the National Sports Institute (NSI) Development Programme and on the Gold Coast is a testament to his dedication and hard work.
“Pais’s selection is a proud moment for PNG athletics,” said a representative from Athletics PNG INC. “His commitment and recent performances demonstrate his readiness to compete on the world stage. We are confident he will represent our country with pride.”
The nation rallies behind Pais Wisil as he prepares to compete at the World Indoor Championships!
