The country itself is not corrupt. Its people are hardworking, honest, and resilient. But the politicians, government officials, and public servants in power are the ones bleeding the nation dry.
They are the architects of systemic theft, the masterminds behind the looting of public funds meant for schools, hospitals, roads, and essential services.
They are the ones appointing their cronies, relatives, and political puppets into key positions to ensure their schemes go unchecked.
They are the ones inflating contracts, taking kickbacks, and siphoning millions if not billions into offshore accounts while ordinary citizens suffer.
A System Designed to Protect the Corrupt
The very institutions meant to uphold justice and accountability have been compromised. The Ombudsman Commission, the Police Fraud Squad, and the Independent Commission Against
Corruption (ICAC) are either underfunded, intimidated, or manipulated into inaction. High-profile cases disappear into thin air. Investigations stall indefinitely. Whistleblowers are silenced or punished.
Meanwhile, white-collar criminals roam freely in the corridors of Waigani, protected by their connections and their stolen wealth.
Do you think these politicians and officials care about justice? Do you really believe they will punish themselves? Do you expect the same people who steal from the public purse to suddenly develop a conscience and root out corruption? In your dreams.
The Illusion of Change
Every election cycle, the same faces or their proxies return with empty promises. They smile for the cameras, shake hands, and swear they will fight corruption. But once in office, the looting continues.
The system is designed to keep them in power, and as long as they control the money, the institutions, and the narrative, nothing will change.
You can complain all you want. You can protest, write petitions, and share angry posts on social media.
But until there is real pressure until the people demand accountability through mass movements, legal action, and relentless scrutiny. The thieves in suits will keep laughing all the way to the bank.
They Love Money and Power More Than the People
The truth is simple: these leaders do not care about you. They care about wealth, influence, and self-preservation. As long as they are in office, the future of this country remains at their mercy.
As long as they are re-elected through manipulation, voter intimidation, or empty promises and they will continue to rob you blind.
Stop Complaining – Start Acting
We are part of the problem. By accepting their lies, by voting for them out of tribal loyalty or short-term gain, by staying silent when we see corruption, we enable them. If we want change, we must demand it, not just with words, but with action.
