When he was appointed by the then O’Neill government as head of Taskforce Sweep Team, Koim took up some extremely dangerous and high level corruption cases.
In his short tenure, Koim dug up, and brought to justice cases that would have been easily swept under the carpet and forgotten.
His staunch pursuit of justice treatened the very government that appointmented him.
The taskforce sweep team wa suspicicusly disbanded immediately causing a nation wide outcry in PNG.
When James Marape took over as Prime Minister, he got the country excited with his bold audacious slogan “Take Back PNG”.
To help him fight corruption at highest level to Take Back PNG, Prime Minister Marape needed radical corruption fighters in the likes of Sam Koim.
