Madang, Papua New Guinea – A family is heartbroken and demanding answers after a man died outside Madang Provincial Hospital, allegedly because he was denied access to emergency medical care.
The victim, who suffered from asthma, arrived at the hospital desperately seeking help. However, he found the gates locked by security personnel from Guard Dog Security. Struggling to breathe, he tried to climb over the locked gate but tragically collapsed and died before receiving any medical assistance.
This heartbreaking incident has ignited outrage among the community. Family members are questioning the hospital’s policy that keeps the gates locked, preventing access to critical healthcare. One family member exclaimed, “What kind of law is this? Hospitals are meant to save lives, not turn away patients in emergencies. This is not a prison—why are the gates locked all the time?”
The grieving family is calling for immediate changes, insisting that the hospital gates should remain open at all hours to ensure patients can access emergency treatment. They are holding both the Madang Provincial Health Authority (PHA) and Guard Dog Security accountable for what they describe as a preventable tragedy.
Authorities have yet to respond to these serious allegations. Meanwhile, the public is left questioning the hospital’s security policies and whether similar incidents have happened in the past.
