BARREN FOR 15 YEARS YET GAVE BIRTH - true inspirational stories
Have you read the story of Hannah, the mother of Samuel in the Old testimony? Well my mother’s story is quite similar. My mama was barren and unable to conceive a child after getting married to my father for 15 years.
Since, my mother was a barren woman, she was subject to criticisms from my fathers side and even they wanted my father to walk away from her.
But in her heart, she wanted to have a child but what can she do? All she had to do is pray. She was a strong Christian woman and because of her faith in God, my mother prayed to God every day and night and asked for a child in the midst of criticisms for 15 years.
There are women in our society who are barren and wanted to have a child but they cannot as result they subject to criticisms.
Hannah’s faith in the Old Testament is a good example to mothers everywhere in our society.
According to my mum, before she goes to sleep, she would grab a bible and read the story of Hannah in the Old Testament which she asked the Lord to give her a son, then she will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life.
In that same night after 15 years, God has spoken to my mum that should would be expecting a child the next month and he will be called Nathaniel but she kept it to herself and didn’t tell anyone else in our family including my father (nogut em tok em giaman yah).
It was until the next month that she told my father that she’s expecting a child and he would be called Nathaniel.
She conceived and gave birth to a son and he was named Solomon instead of Nathaniel
Why Solomon?
Solomon means ‘peace’. Because it has brought peace amongst my mother (even paps too) and my father’s family.
Now my mama is the happiest woman of two children Solomon and Jemimah.
The story of my mother, oh! even Hannah in the bible too are the stories of women who in their barrenness prayed to God, asking for a child. The experience of such mothers who bowed down and oppressed by their situations are truly an inspiring stories to mothers everywhere on this Mother’s Day.
I love you mama.
