A Rare Feat for a Family in Papua New Guinea – Two Master Degrees

By Franch Kawage

Every year, we have new batch of students who proudly graduate from various institutions with different levels of qualifications.

Here is a rare feat by a couple from Waiye, Kundiawa District who graduated with Masters Degree.

Anna Singa Mondo is from Wandi, Narku Tribe, married to Joe Gigmai Mondo from Guo, Endugla Tribe.

Anna is a fulltime employed mum with PNGPorts Services whilst attending to her studies.

As a mum, she not only had to fulfill her household chores, but also had to nurse her baby who was born upon commencement of her studies. Balancing studies and her family was a daunting task she managed throughout her endeavor.

Joe, who was not employed at the time of his studies stood tall behind his wife as a very supportive husband and school mate.

Both revered the importance of post graduate qualification and sacrificed all odds with determination and commitment.

The result of the sacrifices was a satisfying smile of victory and the ultimate reward of two Masters Degrees for the family.

ANNA graduated with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with CPA and JOE with a Executive Masters in Business

Administration (EMBA) both from the School of Business and Public Policy at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG).
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs Mondo.
