Air Niugini has provided opportunity for 52 students from Don Bosco Technical School and Port Moresby(POM) Technical College to undergo 3 months On the Job Training with our Ground Support Equipment (GSE) division at Jacksons airport, here in Port Moresby.

It’s part of the national airline’s community service obligation to develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of young Papua New Guineans in technical field by imparting, empowering and preparing them for their future career.

GSE division is a section of Ground Operations Department that ensures availability and serviceability of ground equipment to support the operation of Air Niugini nationwide in particular the operations at the airport.

GSE technicians fix among others baggage tugs, conveyers, lower deck loaders (LDL), ground power units (GPU), aircon units (ACU) and catering trucks.

The students are being trained on mechanical and electrical repairs of these equipment which are the same type used at airports around the world.

  1. I acknowledge my loving Papua New Guinean Senior Workers starting from Manager Mika, receptionist Marry,Superintendent Greg, Supervisor Chris and Simon, Tradesmen Ezekiel, Stakis, Brus, Matthew, Joseph and Chris and an old man workshop cleaner .. It was very Interesting and blessfull with pleasant mind, that period of training.. It’s my first time to work in such a highly institution where senior workers were so good to me thus I gain confidence to work in an industry…I was so blessed of being attached with GSE because this workshop provide big benefits across the nation by support and operate the flight of aircraft in Papua New Guinea..
