Groundbreaking Ceremony of Sea Park Development Project Marks New Era for Tourism in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
PORT MORESBY, PAPUA NEW GUINEA — Hon. Justin Tkatchenko, Member of Parliament, made headlines today as he officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the highly anticipated Sea Park Development Project. This event marks a significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of Port Moresby’s landscape and economy, particularly in the realm of tourism.
The Sea Park Development Project is strategically located in a prime area near the renowned APEC Haus, poised to elevate the surrounding infrastructure and urban appeal of Port Moresby. The site has been designated as a Tourism Special Economic Zone (SEZ), an initiative that underscores the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth through tourism.
“The Sea Park Development Project, in tandem with the establishment of a Special Economic Zone at Ela Beach, is set to become a significant magnet for tourism,” Hon. Tkatchenko stated during the ceremony. He highlighted the project’s potential to attract global visitors by offering world-class amenities, economic incentives, and a variety of recreational and cultural activities.
Project Overview
The Sea Park Development Project comprises three distinct phases, each aiming to create an array of attractions and services that cater to both locals and tourists alike:
Phase 1 – The Azure Residences: This 21-storey building will feature 166 residential units alongside 12 retail outlets, providing a blend of living spaces and shopping conveniences.
Phase 2 – The Era Kone Residences and Era Kone Walk: This expansive mixed-use development will consist of four residential blocks totaling 272 units, paired with three levels of high-end shopping venues.
The Era Kone Walk will be a centerpiece, topped with a luxurious rooftop Wave Pool and a communal area. In addition, a hiking trail will lead to an exclusive bungalow and clubhouse positioned on a hill, offering breathtaking views of the township.
Phase 3 – The Fountain: Rising to 18 stories, this segment will feature eight floors dedicated to premium office space, ensuring that the project supports business and employment growth in the region.
